Police from the 102nd Precinct in Richmond Hill are looking for a suspect who allegedly stole a car with a 5-year-old boy in the backseat in broad daylight on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
The perpetrator entered a Honda Accord at around 10 a.m. that was parked with the keys in the ignition in front of a home at 94-31 118th St., a half block south of Atlantic Avenue in South Richmond Hill . The suspect drove about a mile east to the vicinity of 101st Avenue and 131st Street, where the boy managed to exit the vehicle unharmed. The suspect sped off in an unknown direction.
EMS responded and transported the youngster to Queens Hospital Center in Jamaica in stable condition to make sure he was not injured as a matter of protocol, an NYPD spokesperson said Thursday.
The NYPD released surveillance video footage of the suspect as he walked along 118th Street. He has a light complexion with a black mustache and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark-colored pants.
A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest and indictment.
