A woman who was struck and killed by a van driver in Jamaica has not yet been identified nearly two weeks after the fatal collision, an NYPD spokesperson said Monday.
The 55-year-old female pedestrian was crossing Guy R. Brewer Boulevard near 109th Avenue just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, when she was struck by a 64-year-old man who was driving a 2004 Ford Econoline Van traveling southbound on the boulevard as she crossed the street from west to east, at mid-block, an investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined.
The woman sustained blunt force trauma throughout her body and was transported by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased is still pending family notification.
The van driver remained at the scene. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing by the Collision Investigation Squad. About the Author Bill Parry Senior Reporter. Reach me at bparry@schnepsmedia.com
