NYPD officer struck in Bronx hit-and-run after rowdy gathering -- driver at large

The harrowing attack remains under investigation.

An NYPD officer was hit by a fleeing driver in the Bronx on Saturday evening while responding to a rowdy gathering, authorities said.

Cops responded to a 311 call reporting a large crowd and loud music around 7:20 p.m. near Garrison Avenue and Whittier Street in the South Bronx, police said.

As officers arrived, a man jumped into a white Honda SUV to drive off, striking an officer in the left leg as he sped away from the scene, cops said.

The injured officer was rushed to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition where he is expected to recover, according to police.

No arrests have been made and the hit-and-run driver remained on the lam late Saturday.

A physical description of the suspect was not immediately available.

The incident remains under investigation.
